Each box is made from a 250 foot roll of cardboard but the exact number of 40 inch strips varies depends on any defects in the cardboard. A minimum of 70 - 40 inch strips are in each case; and 35 of the 40 inch strips in a 1/2 case.

The collectabed operates nearly identically to the collectabug monitor, differing only in that the collectabed is intended to reduce the size of a infestation, not monitor for it. We have that found from time to time it is capable of eliminating bed bug infestations entirely, providing the infestation is small and confined to the bed. Please note that self treatment, such as spraying raid, will render this product useless.

The collect-a-bed operates nearly identically to the collect-a-bug monitor, differing only in that the collect-a-bed is intended to reduce the size of a infestation not monitor for it. Providing the infestation is small and confined to the bed, it is possible to eliminate the bed bug infestations entirely. Please note that spraying aerosol insecticides will make this product much less effective.

1. Insert closed pieces of collect-a-bed between the box spring and mattress around the entire perimeter of the bed. Insert the taped end into the mattress so that the exposed corrugations can be seen from above. At least a half centimetre of the non corrugated cardboard should be exposed

2. Sleep in the bed that you have installed the collectabed in for the entire time that you are using it. Bedding must be kept on top of the bed, not hanging down where it will cover the collect-a-bed. The bugs must have direct access to the cardboard. Run all your bedding through a dryer on hot every 1-2 weeks.

TIP: to avoid scattering bugs, gently and compactly gather the bedding to be dried

3. Every 1-2 weeks remove the collect-a-bed pieces, open them up, make a note of how many bed bugs you see, and then dispose of them carefully. Seal the infested cardboard in a bag without holes and dispose of immediately. Triple bagging the infested cardboard will ensure no bugs escape. Do not throw it away into a garbage chute. Dispose of it directly.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 as long as the infestation persists to discourage infestation growth. If the infestation is small, and has not yet spread off the bed, that use of the collect-a-bed alone may eliminate a bed bug infestation. If the infestation was not nipped in the bud, or if any bed bugs have been seen outside of the bedroom, the collect-a-bug will still help reduce the infestation but will be inadequate to ensure elimination.
